Emergency First Response
Description:
This course is designed to teach the participant how to respond effectively to life threatening situations up until professional help arrives.
The course is a blend of knowledge development, skill practice and scenario practice.
Course Outline:
Primary Care Module
- Scene assessment
- Barrier use
- Primary assessment
- Rescue breathing
- One rescuer, Adult CPR
- Conscious / unconscious choking Adult
- Serious bleeding management
- Shock management
- Spinal injury management
- Automated external defibrillator (AED)
- Emergency oxygen use
Secondary Care Module
- Injury assessment
- Illness assessment
- Bandaging
- Splinting for dislocation and fractures
Care for Children Module (optional)
Entry Standards:
This course is open anybody who wishes to attend.
Minimum number of participants is three (3) and the maximum is twelve (12).
Duration: 1 day (8 hrs)
Certification:
A certificate of successful completion shall be issued to those participants who successfully complete the course and meet the assessment criteria.
