Shore-Based Fire Fighting for Tankers (STCW)
Description:
The course syllabus covers the mandatory minimum requirements prescribed in Regulation V/1 para.1 of STCW '95.
Objectives:
Trainees who successfully complete this course shall, in the event of a fire on board a chemical, oil or liquefied gas tanker, be able to take the necessary immediate action to control and extinguish fires involving flammable liquids, to the extent possible utilising the normal firefighting equipment found on board tankers.
Entry Standards:
This course is open to seafarers who have completed Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting course.
Trainees shall be medically fit for physical training.
Minimum number of participants is eight (8) and maximum is twenty-four (24).
Duration:
2 days (16hrs)
Refresher: 1 day (8hrs)
Certification:
A certificate of successful completion shall be issued to those participants who successfully complete the course and meet the assessment criteria.
