Tropical Helicopter Underwater Escape Training
Description:
The course is designed for personnel who must travel to offshore installations or ships by helicopter.
Objectives:
Trainees who successfully complete the course will be able to demonstrate escaping from a helicopter simulator under various types of emergencies.

- Procedures at the heliport
- Helicopter safety equipment
- Types of helicopters
- Dangers in connection with the use of helicopters
- Safety measures taken for helicopters
- Types of emergencies
- Emergency landing hazards
- Preparation prior to an emergency landing
- Emergency landing on land
- Surface landings
- Underwater Escape
- Practical underwater escape training including:
- Dry and wet escape exercises
- Use of emergency exits
- Use of helicopter liferaft and lifejackets
- Use of helicopter rescue strop
Entry Standards:
Trainees shall be medically fit for physical training.
Minimum number of participants is one (1) and maximum is sixteen (16).
Duration:
1 day
Certification:
A certificate of successful completion shall be issued to those participants who successfully complete the course and meet the assessment criteria. The certificate is valid for four years.
