Shipboard Environmental Awareness (MARPOL) For Non-Tankers Course

Description:

This course aims to provide knowledge, understanding and guidance relating to the requirements of MARPOL 73/78 as amended and other relevant international legislation for personnel operating vessels other than tankers.

Objectives:

Trainees who successfully complete this training course should be able to:

  • Describe MARPOL 73/78 and its Six Annexes.
  • Realize the implications of intentional or accidental release of pollutants of any sort to the environment.
  • Determine pollution prevention and waste disposal procedures implemented on ships.
  • Record the handling or discharge of any wastes generated from the normal operations of ships.
  • Understand the significance of ballast exchange before arriving port.

  • Ballast Water Management

Entry Standards:

The course is open to all seafarers with or without shipboard experience.
Maximum number of participants is twenty-four (24).

1.5 days (12hrs)
