Shipboard Environmental Awareness (MARPOL) For Non-Tankers Course
Description:
This course aims to provide knowledge, understanding and guidance relating to the requirements of MARPOL 73/78 as amended and other relevant international legislation for personnel operating vessels other than tankers.
Objectives:
Trainees who successfully complete this training course should be able to:
- Describe MARPOL 73/78 and its Six Annexes.
- Realize the implications of intentional or accidental release of pollutants of any sort to the environment.
- Determine pollution prevention and waste disposal procedures implemented on ships.
- Record the handling or discharge of any wastes generated from the normal operations of ships.
- Understand the significance of ballast exchange before arriving port.

Entry Standards:
The course is open to all seafarers with or without shipboard experience.
