Shiphandling Course
Description:
The course demands a high level of participation and response from trainees and places emphasis on the practical application of shiphandling techniques to manoeuvre ships safely and with precision. Theory is covered during classroom lectures. Practical shiphandling exercises are conducted in a full mission bridge simulator and followed by a thorough de-briefing and analysis of each exercise.
Objectives:
Trainees who successfully complete this course shall have a comprehensive understanding of how to effectively maintain control of a ship when manoeuvring to avoid other vessels, manoeuvring in confined waters, berthing, anchoring and in emergencies.
Entry Standards:
This course is open to masters, deck officers and other seafarers.
Minimum number of participants is four (4) and the maximum number is six (6).
Duration:
5 days (40hrs)
Certification:
A certificate of successful completion shall be issued to those participants who successfully complete the course and meet the assessment criteria.
